Telemachus

Telemachus is an attempt to answer two of the most important questions in the world at the moment.

  1. What happens to companies when execution and context become vastly more abundant and a lot of moats dissolve?
  2. What happens to elite talent when AGI is superhuman at taking in information from spreadsheets, emails and pull requests, thinking and returning the same?

How We Do It

We make a machine which remakes the economy in light of A(G)I.

This machine finds the large majority of companies which are not run in an A(G)I-native way and — instead of selling them software or buying them PE-style — we remake them anew, how they should be, at an extremely rapid pace, extremely leanly.

The perspective of our employees

People working at Telemachus are either running one of these business units or they are helping to make the machine.

If they are doing the former, it is a very weird job. When the machine is functioning well, all one needs to do is that which cannot be done by AI: feeding in context and understanding which doesn't exist on the internet and forming the necessary human relationships. Then, almost out of nowhere, the machine handles the rest and the creation of meaningful companies at a rapid pace happens without any of the work which would have been necessary in the past.

If they are doing the latter, it is only somewhat more normal.

The perspective of our competitors & customers

From the point of view of our customers everything is pretty great. The details vary a lot from business unit to business unit, but the common threads are that their products just get cheaper, better and more pleasant to use.

From the point of view of our competitors, life isn't so fun. Usually, they operate at large scale in some sleepy industry with no real competitors. Out of nowhere, some aliens appear with advanced technology operating at implausible speeds which just eat their lunch.

Great operators to run businesses

We need people to make businesses from scratch within the context of the machine Telemachus makes. We need people with great commercial instincts who are able to work hard and fast.

Great technical talent

We need people to make a novel, complex and rapidly-evolving machine. Telemachus is a very AI-native and weird company and we need people who are technically sophisticated and commercially savvy enough to keep up.

Almost no-one else

Given that we're operating at >$1m annual revenue per employee and use modern technology well, we can get by with only hiring great people to either make the machine or make businesses; there's no real need for concessions to pragmatism.
